Expanding Internationally
With new offices now open in China and South Korea, CTTC’s activities in those countries will take a big leap forward. In particular, as part of a travel trade initiative geared toward building new California packages, a "Cali Panda" promotion will make a big impact on Chinese media and consumers alike. CTTC will use Cali Panda to enhance the connection between Chinese consumers and California travel product by leveraging pandas, China’s national treasures.
Sustainable Summit
In October 2009, CTTC will hold the first California Sustainable Tourism Summit, where industry partners will be brought together for educational and networking opportunities. Attendees will learn how communities benefit from sustainable tourism and how they can draw in a new and growing demographic, as well as how they can provide new and exciting options to their current customer base. A fantastic lineup of industry leaders and CTTC Commissioners will also share their best practices.
Interactive Activities
In the interactive sphere, CTTC will focus on online travel agency partnerships, launching customized campaigns that go beyond simple advertising. Sponsorships with sites such as Expedia.com and Travelocity.com, the top two online travel planners, will include customized California microsites, targeted ads, e-mail blasts and e-newsletters, booking tools, social networking and more throughout the year. With more and more consumers switching to online booking options, CTTC will concentrate on people actively booking travel—and be able to accurately measure actual travel generated as a result.
