Description

Printed and electronic newsletters and other publications are created to inform the assessed business community, industry partners, members of the travel trade and the media about new CTTC cooperative programs, opportunities and events; new developments in California; story ideas; itinerary planning; and activities geared toward various segments.

CTTC currently produces the following newsletters in addition to the annual Year in Review, sent to approximately 16,000 assessed businesses and members of the travel and tourism industry:

  • Insights Online, sent to approximately 10,000 assessed businesses and members of the travel and tourism industry monthly and available online
  • What’s New in California, distributed to 3,500 media quarterly
  • Media News, sent to approximately 1,000 media monthly, targeting short and long lead publications


Background

CTTC redesigned Insights Online in January 2009, providing a broader platform to showcase CTTC marketing programs and events, and allowing greater organizational transparency. CTTC also expanded page allotment for What’s New in California, allowing for partners to share more of their news.




New for 09-10

CTTC will work with its international offices to translate publications and add to the press kit and online press room. Additionally, CTTC plans to survey newsletter readers as to the success of the Insights redesign, and to determine effectiveness of format, content and frequency for all publications. CTTC will also conduct reader surveys for What’s New and Media News. CTTC is also moving forward with tracking open rates for the electronic newsletters.




Objectives/Metrics
  • To provide updated, user-friendly materials to our current and future visitors, industry colleagues, travel trade and media about what California has to offer.
  • To have all the materials provide consistent CTTC and California messaging and branding in terms of editorial and design.
  • To notify our industry partners of CTTC opportunities for promotions and events on a monthly basis, as well as notify partners of general travel and tourism opportunities and events.
  • To provide transparency about CTTC’s operations and programs to the travel and tourism industry.
