BILL INTRODUCED TO END GOVERNMENT TOURISM BLACKLIST
U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida has filed two bills that would make it unlawful for federal agencies to blacklist certain cities as sites for conferences just because they're popular resort destinations. Nelson filed the bills last week. He says some federal agencies have blacklisted popular destinations like Orlando and Las Vegas because of perceptions that people go there to have fun as opposed to doing work. (Las Vegas Sun)

CONGRESSMAN INTRODUCES BILL TO INCREASE BUSINESS MEALS EXPENSE DEDUCTION
The U.S. Travel Association praised Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii) for re-introducing a bill to restore the 80 percent deduction for business meals and entertainment expenses. Currently, only 50 percent of the value of these expenses is tax deductible. (Travel Agent Central)

A snapshot of corporate travel for Cisco Systems Inc., which ranked among the top 25 for travel spending in 2008, can't be very encouraging for airlines and hotels hoping for a rebound in business travel.
