“American Legacy: Our National Parks” Exhibit at The Haggin Museum
The Plein-Air Painters of America returns to Stockton in October for “American Legacy: Our National Parks.” In this exhibition, more than 30 members and guests of the Plein-Air Painters of America (PAPA) set up their easels in national sites across the country. Each artist selected a favorite park to document during the period from the summer of 2008 to spring of 2009. More than 100 paintings depict sites from coast to coast, border to border, and from the earliest park designation to one of the most recent. The artworks appear in the catalogue and on the walls by the date and presidential administration that established the location. This nearly decade-by-decade documentation affirms the continuing desire of the American people to preserve unique geographic and geological wonders as national parks, preserves, recreation areas, monuments, seashores, parkways, rivers, and historical sites. New Starline Hop-on Hop-off Santa Monica Service
The hop-on, hop-off open-top double-deckers, so popular with tourists around the world, have at last arrived in Santa Monica. Starline CitySightseeing has just added a new hop-on, hop-off loop that covers Santa Monica, Brentwood, Westwood, Beverly Hills and Century City. This joins Starline’s CitySightseeing’s existing network of hop-on, hop-off loops of Hollywood and Downtown L.A. – providing a service that now connects most of the main attractions in Los Angeles with one simple ticket. The $30, 24-hour ticket, which can be purchased on the buses, now gives people the chance to hop-on or hop-off the buses at nearly 50 stops around the city.
