|
Thank you to those who participated in the inaugural California Sustainable Tourism Summit at Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, near Monterey. With nearly 200 industry professionals in attendance, this one-day Summit brought together tourism partners from all over the country for educational and networking opportunities. The Summit presented sustainable best practices currently utilized by top industry leaders and offered information about resources available to market these programs. For a review of the sessions and speakers, download a copy of the Summit program.
CTTC formed the California Sustainable Tourism Symposium (CSTS), which is dedicated to sustaining the environment, culture and heritage of California while sustaining economic growth through tourism. Download the Sustainable working document here.
At the Summit, CTTC unveiled the new California Sustainable Tourism Handbook, designed to raise awareness of sustainable tourism best practices and to facilitate implementation by tourism operators. The handbook explores the “three pillars” of sustainability: economically feasible, environmentally sound and socially equitable. CTTC has also created a resource directory for different segments of the industry - click here to learn more.
To adhere to sustainable meeting practices, printed materials at the Summit were reduced to a minimum. You can find the Summit presentations here, and more information at tourism.visitcalifornia.com/green. Thank you to our presenters for providing great informational sessions! Additionally, thanks to our many sponsors. You can learn more about them here. |
